Thanks to the likes of Marques' Almeida, MM6 Maison Margiela, Raquel Allegra and veterans
of visionary design Acne Studios and Alexander Wang, the concept of denim is changing.
No longer relegated to the standard jean section, this classic material is seeping ever further
into every part of the wardrobe. Tops, skirts, jackets, jumpsuits and dresses like the raw-edged
beauty I'm wearing here are dominating the runways and I am personally loving it: never being
much of a jean-loving girl myself, the more denim I can work into my everyday outfits in other
ways the better.
The key to styling is to keep everything else clean, classic and simple. Keep jewellery to a
minimum, your bag sleek and your shoes low and preferably a little androgynous - sneakers,
loafers or an edgy leather sandal will do the trick - and if your working with separates be sure
to pare the denim back with crisp classics like white shirts, tuxedo blazers and tailored pants.
Make the denim piece the focus and you're set.
