The humble tunic has many negative connotations in the fashion stakes. Sitting somewhere
between a top and a dress, it harks back centuries as the standard garb for ancient times, so
it’s no wonder man- and womankind alike may have had their fill of such a piece. Isabel
Marant brought the tunic back to life with her modern take on the bohemian trend, but what
is the minimalist girl to do with all those crochet details and contrast stitching?

Enter the genius that is Kym Ellery and her super-clean take on this retro piece. All high-necks,
side splits and flare sleeves, this top is my absolute go-to for work or play, and the fact that I
also own it in black simply solidifies this further. Layered over everything from wide-legs to
leathers to midi skirts, there really is nothing it won’t seamlessly mesh with. So be sure not to
discount this somewhat retro top/dress hybrid – it might just open up your wardrobe and bring
it right into the now.

  1. I love this monochromatic look! Its so simple and so chic. Your tunic is to die for! I actually have a thing for longer tops because you can get creative with them I love the split detail on the side and like how you paired it with a pair of a pair of leather pants. Your whole look is just so effortless from top to bottom. I absolutely adore your style. Great post!
