PYJAMAS BY DAY.

Despite its rather relaxed connotations, the pyjama trend shows no signs of slowing down. 
In fact, the inclusion of silky slips and loose satin co-ords into everyday wear is now so 
accepted I think we have surpassed trend status into the realm of wardrobe classics, 
something I can totally get behind.

In saying this, there are a few rules to getting the look right. In order to avoid any unwanted 
Hugh Hefner overtones (though you can’t say the guy doesn’t rock the loungewear), below 
are some of the rules I abide by personally to feel great in my PJs.

i. Focus on fit. Going too fitted or too oversized will cause everything to seem awkward and 
ill-considered. Aim for that easy, in-between fit that exudes an ease while remaining sleek 
and proportional.

ii. Anchor those loose layers. Choose a neat loafer, mule or sleek heel if you can – sandals 
or sneakers can verge on looking a little too laid-back, with the aim being to elevate the 
look rather than relax it.

iii. The same goes for any bags and accessories. Keep bags structured and jewellery or 
eyewear minimal and to the point – the focus should be the matching pyjama-esque layers, 
which should be statement enough on their own.

iv. Finally, ensure you wear your set with attitude. With the right fit and accessories as 
per the above, you will be looking mighty cool so go forth and own it.

To get the look, you can opt for the luxe version as I have and pull together some silky designer
pieces from your existing wardrobe that happen to coordinate, or you can get the most out of any 
cash you splash and purchase an actual pyjama set (such as this one or this one I have my eye 
on) and give a new, somewhat literal meaning to the term “I woke up like this.”
