With
the prolific growth of online shopping making designer pieces worldwide
available at our
fingertips, it is all too easy to forget those incredible
businesses that are right on your doorstep
just waiting for you to discover a
hidden gem for your wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong – you
will never see me giving
up my online shopping habits, but nothing quite beats the experience
of flicking through those expertly curated racks to find that perfect piece for
your wardrobe
that may not be available anywhere else. And to be able to
actually try those designer items
on to ensure they are a perfect fit? Nothing
beats it.
I am
lucky enough to live in Sydney, Australia, where so many major international
brands
had their start and continue to thrive as established local businesses.
In celebration of these
local dynamos, I have teamed up with American Express
for their annual Shop Small initiative
in order to share some of my favourite places to shop in the
Paddington and Darlinghurst
area, to encourage support for these homegrown
brands and boutiques.
Camilla
and Marc, Parlour X, Désordre, Jac + Jack, Ellery and Bassike of course all
make
the cut:  Camilla and Marc for their
minimal, tailored approach to modern femininity (as you
can see in my outfit
above); Parlour X for its meticulously curated collection of local and
international luxury designers; Désordre for its consistently fresh range of
established and
upcoming brands; Jac + Jack for their premium range of neutral
basics; Ellery for its wholly
unique aesthetic and strong silhouettes; and
Bassike for its effortless yet forward-thinking
approach to everyday staples. What’s
more, at participating small businesses across the country
throughout November,
American Express Card Members will receive $10 credit when they
spend $20 or
more, up to ten times during the month*, so whether you are a Sydney local
or
planning a visit to our sunny shores this is an essential bookmark for any fashion-
motivated shopping expedition.

Be
sure to click through and check out the interactive digital map of all my
top
picks, and make that next luxe designer purchase a local one.
